Union Home Minister Amit Shah has expressed grief on the death of actor Irrfan Khan on Wednesday. Rajasthan-born Irfan Khan died on Wednesday in a hospital in Mumbai. He was 53 years old and had been fighting a rare type of cancer for a long time.
Amit Shah tweeted, "Shocked to hear of Irrfan Khan's untimely demise. He was a versatile actor whose art earned global fame and recognition, the nation has lost an extraordinary actor and a kind soul. My condolences to his family and followers. "
Khan's 95 year old mother Saida Begum had died in Jaipur four days earlier. The actor was unable to attend his mother's funeral due to a lockdown imposed to combat the corona virus.
