The Cannes Film Festival will not take place in June due to the Covid-19 epidemic. The organisers are busy exploring various options for organising the festival later this year.

According to 'Variety.com', the organisers have also stated that the festive Corono virus crisis cannot proceed 'in its original form'.

A statement from the organisers of the festival said, "Following the statement of the French President on Monday, April 13, we accepted that there is no longer any option but to postpone the 73rd International Cannes Film Festival, which it was previously scheduled for at the end of June, was considered to be held in early July". It further stated, "It is clearly difficult to organise the festival in its original form this year."

Earlier in March, it was announced that the 2020 edition would not be held in May. The organisers planned to hold it in late June, but growing cases of Corona in France and around the world made it difficult to organise in June or July.
