Highly placed sources in the government said that the decision was taken in a meeting of the Union Home Ministry. The CRPF then took over the security responsibility of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul and Priyanka. ZPlus Security of CRPF, which ensures safety cover by about 100 personnel.

The force (SPG) of 3,000 personnel was not only given commando protection to the Gandhi family but also had uniformed agents, who had already rechecked the places where the people under their protection had to go. At the same time, the commandos were also stationed at home and when they had to go out, they used to go along.
