Food and Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs Minister Saryu Rai resigned from the Jharkhand Council of Ministers today. He has sent his resignation to Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu. Along with this, Rai has also resigned from the membership of Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. In a letter sent to the Governor and the Speaker of the Assembly, Rai has requested to accept his resignation with immediate effect.

Political upheaval has intensified here before the Jharkhand assembly elections. Jharkhand minister and senior BJP leader Saryu Rai has rebelled. This will be the first time in the politics of Jharkhand when the head of the cabinet, that is, the Chief Minister will be challenged by his cabinet minister. Rai also found it difficult to get a ticket because Chief Minister Raghubar Das was not in any way supporting his candidature. In the central meeting for the party's candidature, national president Amit Shah, who was already angry with Rai for several reasons, also justified the ticket cutting.

After a meeting with his supporters and activists in Jamshedpur on Sunday, he announced to contest against Chief Minister Raghubar Das on the Jamshedpur East seat and also from his old seat Jamshedpur West. Saryu Rai said that from Jamshedpur East, where he himself will actively take charge of the campaign, it will be on the Jamshedpur West seat.

Earlier, Rai on Saturday advised the party leadership not to consider his name. Rai claimed in a press conference that his candidature would get the support of opposition parties at least in Jamshedpur West seat. After the rebellion of Rai, it is now expected that the party will soon announce its official candidate.
