300 Unhappy Workers Submitted Resignation to Shiv Sena Chief

Shivani Alakh

300 workers, including 26 Shiv Sena corporators, unhappy with the seat sharing in Maharashtra assembly elections have sent their resignations to party chief Uddhav Thackeray. Significantly, in Maharashtra Assembly elections, Shiv Sena has agreed to contest 124 seats and BJP 150 seats in total 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra. The remaining seats were left to the allies. It would not be wrong to say that the BJP by its cleverness has not only subdued the Shiv Sena but also smaller allies.

The BJP-led NDA coalition in Maharashtra consists of five parties, including BJP, Shiv Sena, RPI (A), RSP and Rayat Kranti Party. But if we look at the list of candidates, only BJP and Shiv Sena are seen fighting.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had put the formula for sharing of 50 seats for BJP in the beginning for the Maharashtra assembly elections, but after the meetings in this case, out of the total 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena got 124 seats and BJP 150 seats while the remaining 14 seats have been left to the allies.

The Shiv Sena, who was happy with 124 seats, suffered a major setback when it came to know that the BJP has implemented the formula to field its candidates in 14 seats of the remaining allies. In Maharashtra, the BJP has contested in 164 such seats, not 150 seats. The candidates contesting seats in the quota of RPI (Athawale), RSP, Shiv Sangram and Rayat Kranti Party are trying their luck on BJP's election symbol Kamal. Not only Shiv Sena but allies are also seen with this codified strategy of BJP.
