At least 304 people were killed in a three-day crackdown against protests in Iran in the month of November. Amnesty International gave information about this new number of dead on Monday. The rights-working group previously estimated 208 deaths, including two minors aged 15 and 17.

Iran has dismissed these figures as 'outright lies'. Amnesty said it gathered 'creepy witnesses' indicating that the authorities planned to impose 'massive stringent restrictions' to cover up these deaths, after the protesters had 'murdered' them.

The Iranian-based watchdog said in a statement, "Iranian authorities took brutal action against the protesters after a nationwide protest began on 15 November." Amnesty said "thousands of protesters as well as defenders of human rights, journalists and students" were arrested to prevent them from speaking out about Iran's repressive actions. Nationwide demonstrations in Iran began due to the sudden increase in fuel prices.
