Corona is spreading continuously and people are getting more and more worried. The Supreme Court has returned to work from home mode after the corona investigation report of two Supreme Court judges came out positive. When the Supreme Court's top five judges, including the Chief Justice, did not appear in their courtrooms after 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, everyone assumed the collegium was meeting. However, it was later revealed that the five most senior judges were examining covid's predicament in the Supreme Court and looking for ways to deal with it.

An outbreak of corona leads to virtual conduct of meetings

According to the decision taken in the meeting, from Friday, all the judges will hear from their homes. That is, again the time cycle has gone back by about two and a half years. The virtual hearing started in the Supreme Court on 22 March 2020. When the crisis escalated, all the judges, registrars, and staff had gone into work from home mode.

At the end of 2021, the court again agreed to the physical hearing. But now again the situation has become like in previous years. That is, during the hearing, there will be judges and lawyers in different windows on the VDO screen. Then there will be proper social distance after virtually conducting meetings and hearings.

Supreme Court will now only hold virtual hearings

Due to the ongoing and rapidly spreading infection of the third wave of Covid, namely Omicron, the Supreme Court will now only hold virtual hearings. Instead of being present in the courtroom, the judges will participate in the hearing by video conference from their homes.

Scheduled hearing will only be conducted

From January 10, only urgent matters, new cases, bail matters, cases involving stay, imprisonment, or habeas corpus, and those that have already been scheduled for hearing will be heard. The Supreme Court has published a circular in which it clarifies the entire situation.
