The World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday acknowledged the 'evidence emerging' of the transmission of COVID-19 through the air. The WHO has said this after a group of scientists has asked the WHO to issue new guidelines regarding the coronavirus being airborne.

Technical head on the Corona Epidemic at WHO, Maria Van Kerkhove, said in a news briefing, 'We are talking about the possibility of airborne transmission as one of the transmission methods of corona infection and we cannot deny it.' She said that the World Health Organization would publish a brief scientific statement to clarify the situation on the virus's spread in the coming times.

Scientists urged WHO to issue new guidelines:

Earlier, the World Health Organization had said that the virus that spreads corona infection causes respiratory disease. The WHO said that it spreads mainly through small droplets from the nose and mouth of an infected person and spreads through touching the infected surface.

In an open letter published on Monday in the Journal of Clinical Infectious Diseases, 239 scientists from 32 countries gave evidence that tiny corona particles in the air could infect people. Scientists have urged the WHO to issue new guidelines for the coronavirus.

Spreading Corona infection by air cannot be ruled out: WHO

Earlier, Benedetta Allegranzi, WHO's technical lead for the prevention and control of corona infection, said evidence of coronavirus spread through the air was present, but it was not certain. She said that the possibility of spreading Corona infection by air in public places cannot be ruled out. Particularly in very specific circumstances, crowded place closed space, where the air is not coming properly. However, she said that there is a need to collect evidence and explain this. We support it.
