The Tamil Nadu government on Monday announced the return of 24 thousand quick test kits imported from China to test Covid-19. The state government made the announcement a few hours after the ICMR informed the two companies from the states to stop the investigation with quick antybody kits and return these kits. It is noteworthy that the Tamil Nadu government and the opposition party are going on a tussle with the DMK regarding the price of these kits. The DMK has demanded transparency in kit procurement while the ruling AIADMK said that the kits were procured at prices fixed by the Center.

Earlier, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said that it examined the kits of Guangzhou Vodfo Biotech and Zhuhai Livson Diagnostic which found a huge difference in results against the earlier claims. Health Minister C Vijay Bhaskar of Tamil Nadu, said, "As per the ICMR order, all 24 thousand kits received to Tamil Nadu are being returned."

He said that the state government had not spent any money on this. Bhaskar also said that all other orders have also been canceled as per ICMR instructions.
