South Africa Announces to Ban Liquor Sales Again to Combat Coronavirus

South Africa has announced to impose new restrictions along with the ban on alcohol sales to contain the transmission of COVID-19. On the other hand, night-curfews have also been imposed, and it is now mandatory to wear masks at public places. President Cyril Ramaphosa said that the alcohol ban in South Africa for the second time this year would take pressure off the national healthcare system.

Number of coronavirus infected has exceeded 2,76000 cases:

On the other hand, the number of coronavirus infected in the country has exceeded 2,76000, while the death toll has crossed 4 thousand. According to the estimation of the government, by the end of the year, the number of people who die from Coronavirus here can be more than 50 thousand.

Let us tell you that the infection is spreading rapidly in South Africa. There has been a spurt in infected cases here earlier this week. The highest number of cases have been reported from Guateng area. By now this area has become the epicenter of this pandemic.

Most people did not follow guidelines of the government: President

During an event, the President admitted that most people did not follow the necessary steps taken by the government to prevent the spread of Corona infection. He said that many people were seen on the streets without wearing masks. Speaking further, he said that the government is taking new measures to tackle this virus. The emergency will be extended by 15 August. He said that 28,000 beds have been arranged in hospitals for Corona patients, but the country still needs health workers including nurses and doctors.

Let us tell you that earlier liquor sales were banned in the country to reduce domestic violence. But after three months this ban was lifted.
