Punjab CM Amarinder Singh Urges Farmers to Postpone Sit-In Protest amid Covid Crisis

Akash Singh

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has appealed to the Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) to postpone their three-day proposed sit-in protest in Patiala. He said it could turn into a COVID-19 super-spreader. According to a statement, the Chief Minister said his government had made efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 and any event, such as the proposed 3-day protest of the BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) in Patiala, had the potential to negate the efforts made by his government in containing COVID in the state. The CM further said, "Such a dharna would draw people mainly from the villages, which were, in any case, going through a crisis during the second wave of the pandemic."
