Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said on Monday that his government was giving opinion that the lockdown in the coastal state should be extended beyond May 3. After attending the Chief Ministers' video conference with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sawant told reporters that Goa's borders would remain sealed, while economic activities in the state would resume gradually.

He said that the Goa government would write a letter to the Prime Minister requesting to extend the lockdown from May 3 onwards. So far seven cases of corona virus have been reported in Goa and all patients have been cured of this infectious disease.

PM Modi said in a video conference with the Chief Ministers that the country has to give importance to the economy, whereas, simultaneously the fight against Covid-19 will have to continue. He also said that the lockdown has positive results. The country has been able to save thousands of lives in the last one and a half months.
