Delhi Unlock 2.0: Malls, Markets Allow to Reopen on Odd-Even Basis

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal held a press conference on Saturday on the existing COVID-19 situation in the national capital. During this, he informed about the government's plan to unlock Delhi. He said that the lockdown will continue in Delhi, but with certain relaxations.

Here's what will be allowed in Delhi from June 7:

  • Shops and malls in Delhi will allow opening on an odd-even basis, The timings will be 10 am to 8 pm
  • The stand-alone shops will allow opening at different times with conditions.
  • Private offices will allow functioning with 50 percent staff. Group A staff of government offices will allow opening with 100 percent, group B with 50 percent staff
  • The metro trains will allow operating with 50 percent capacity.

Ready to combat 3rd wave of COVID-19: Kejriwal

Meanwhile, Kejriwal said, "We are ready to combat the third wave of COVID-19. We have set up a pediatric task force. With an expected third wave of COVID-19, 420 tonnes of oxygen storage capacity is being prepared. We have also spoken to Indraprastha Gas limited to produce 150 tones of oxygen. Delhi reported about 400 COVID-19 cases while positivity rate is around 0.5 percent."

Lockdown imposed on 19 April:

The lockdown restrictions were imposed in Delhi on 19 April. After this, it was extended 5 times and at present, it is applicable till 5 am on 7th June. However, in the first phase of unlocking, the exemption given to construction activities and permission to work in industrial areas.

523 cases reported in Delhi:

Earlier on Friday, 523 cases of coronavirus reported in Delhi. Meanwhile, 1,161 people cured and 50 died. So far 14.28 lakh people have tested positive for COVID-19. Of these, 13.95 lakh people cured, while 24,497 patients have died. Meanwhile, 8,060 patients undergoing treatment here.
