Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa on Friday appealed to the migrant laborers to help the government by staying in the state and restore economic activities. He made this statement a day after allowing migrant laborers to go to their home residence. The Chief Minister said in a statement, "I request the migrant laborers to stay in the state itself and cooperate with us in restoring economic activities after getting permission from the central government."

Greeting May Day, he said that we want to start economic activities soon and in this regard we have also met with representatives of commerce and industry associations. He said, "The government has also appealed to employers to protect the interests of their employees and pay them."

The Karnataka government on Thursday decided to allow migrant laborers, tourists, students and others stranded in different parts of the state to go to their homes. Referring to the stagnation of all economic activities across the country due to Covid-19, Yeddyurappa said that the worst effect was on the workers. He said, "The government stands with you in this hour of crisis. Covid-19's position in India is better than other countries because of your cooperation. "
