The executive chairman of Bangalore-headquartered biotechnology company Biocon Ltd said that given the size of the country when opening the economy after the enforced lockdown due to Covid-19, there are likely to be cases of infection. She said that her concern was with the ICMR not allowing a large number of tests without symptoms; companies have now opened their offices and plants. They want to make sure that Covid-19 employees visiting their premises are not infected. She told PTI, "Some of these may be positive, some may be conductors or large conductors. How do I know? Why is ICMR preventing us from investigating? It is beyond my comprehension.

Everywhere in the world, they are allowing investigations or trials. "She said that the government is behaving as if investigation is a crime. They are doing something similar. What is a crime to investigate? If I don't have symptoms, don't I have the right to know if I have an infection? She also said that on the one hand the government is allowing people traveling by plane to investigate, but those coming to work are not being allowed.

Mazumdar-Shaw suggested to divide the cases of Covid-19 into mild, moderate and severe and to properly manage the hospital beds. Those who have minor symptoms should be kept in separate centers. Their health should be monitored there. Only patients with trouble breathing or in need of oxygen should be kept in the hospital.
