Omicron Subvariants: The threat of Covid-19 in the country is not completely over yet. Omicron is followed by its sub-variants BA.4 and BA.5 in the country. The government has confirmed this.

The Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG) has said in a statement that a 19-year-old woman in Tamil Nadu has been found infected with the SARS-CoV-2 variant BA.4.

According to the reports, 'The woman who had completely taken the dose of corona vaccine showed mild symptoms of infection.

At the same time, an elderly person has been found infected with the BA.5 variant. In Telangana, an 80-year-old man has been infected with the BA.5 variant of SARS-CoV-2. This person had also completely taken the vaccine and showed mild symptoms of infection.

This person has also not travelled abroad. After getting new variants of Omicron in the country, the government has said that it is tracing the people with whom the BA.4 and BA.5 patients came in contact. People who came in contact will also be screened.

Both BA.4 and BA.5 variants were confirmed in South Africa earlier this year

The BA.4 and BA.5 are sub-variants of the Omicron variant, whose cases are being found across the world. Both these variants were confirmed in South Africa earlier this year.

After this, these sub-variants started being found in different parts of the world. However, those infected with these sub-variants did not become seriously ill and did not require hospitalization.
