US Arbitration Offer on Border Dispute between India and China Denied

Nidhi Hakla

India has once again turned down the offer of arbitration of another country in case of its border dispute.  In this episode on Thursday, the US arbitration offer on the border dispute between India and China has been denied.  In this sequence, India has denied many times the talk of American mediation between India and Pakistan.  On Thursday, President Trump once offered arbitration to settle the India-China border dispute, but India declined it with ease.  In 2017, there was tension between the two countries over Doklam.  After this, China is again confusing India over the border dispute.

In a conversation with reporters at the Oval Office of the White House on Thursday, President Donald Trump publicly praised Prime Minister Modi.  President Trump said that he has also held talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the latest dispute between India-China border.  Trump further said that Modi is not in a good mood and he is not ready for any major struggle.  Trump said there is a big conflict going on between India and China over the border.  Trump said that people like me in India.  I think people of India like it more than the media.  I like Modi.  I like your Prime Minister very much.  Modi is a great gentleman.

Meanwhile, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Anurag Shrivastava said in an online media briefing, in response to questions, "We are constantly working with the Chinese side to resolve this peacefully."  He said that both sides have established mechanisms at both the military and diplomatic levels that can resolve peacefully in the border areas through dialogue and continue to engage through these channels.  The Foreign Ministry said that we are working to resolve the border line with China peacefully to settle our decades-old dispute.
