This information was given by China's National Health Commission on Tuesday. A 41-year-old man from Zhenjiang city was hospitalised on April 28 after developing a fever and other health-related problems. Currently, the man's condition is stable and he will be discharged soon.

On May 28, he was diagnosed as having the H10N3 avian influenza virus. However, no details have been given about how the person got this infection. In April, the highly pathogenic H5N6 avian flu was identified in a wild bird in Shenyang city, northeast China.

Less severe strain of the virus in poultry: NHC

However, NHC has reported H10N3 to be less pathogenic and less prone to spread the infection. Medical examination of those who came in contact with the infected patient was done but had not found any other cases. Many strains of avian influenza are present in China and people working in poultry have been exposed to infection.
