China Occupies 50 km Land of Arunachal: Tapir Gao

Shivani Alakh

BJP MP Tapir Gao claimed that China has occupied more than 50 km of land in Arunachal. Gao said in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that a situation like Doklam can also occur in Arunachal Pradesh.

During the Zero Hour, he said that whenever the President, Prime Minister, Defense Minister or Home Minister visits Arunachal Pradesh, China objects. On 14 November 2019, when Defense Minister Rajnath Singh visited Tawang, China also protested through official press talks. He said, "I urge the House and the media to raise their voice against it."

It is noteworthy that the Indian Army had opposed the construction of a road from Doklam near Sikkim towards China. After this, the armies of both the countries became face to face. The conflict ended 73 days later on 28 August 2017 following a mutual agreement between the two countries. China stopped road construction there.
