Stock Market LIVE: Sensex Fall 435 Points and Nifty Opened 152 Points Down

The stock market opened with a fall on the second trading day of this week. Today the Sensex opened 435.96 points and the Nifty down 152.65 points. Earlier on Monday, the markets closed with an increase. The Sensex was up 295.94 points at 49,502.41. At the same time, the Nifty closed at 14,942.35 with a gain of 119.20 points.

On Monday, all US markets closed down. The Dow Jones was down 34.94 points at 34,742.80, down 0.10%. The Nasdaq was down 2.55% to close at 350.38 points at 13,401.90. The S&P 500 index was down 44.17 points at 4,188.43. However, the markets of France and Germany closed with an edge.

FII and DII data

According to provisional data on the NSE, on May 10, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 583.69 crore and domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought shares worth Rs 476.26 crore. The Sensex closed 295 points higher at 49,502 on Monday. Similarly, the Nifty was up 119 points at 14,942.

The steep decline in Asian markets

  • Japan's Nikkei index is trading down 806 points at 28,711.
  • China's Shanghai Composite Index declined 16 points to 3,411.
  • Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index is trading down 577 points at 28,017.
  • Korea's Kospi index dropped 42 points to 3,206.
  • Australia's All Ordinaries Index has fallen 99 points to 7,320.
