Rajasthan: Lakshmi Mittal Meets CM Ashok Gehlot

Steel giant ArcelorMittal Group Chairman LN Mittal arrived in Jaipur on Sunday. During his visit, he met Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and expressed interest to set up a 4,500 MW solar park and invest Rs 19,000 crore in the state. The meeting was also attended by additional chief secretary and chairman and managing director of Rajasthan Renewable Energy Corporation Subodh Agarwal, secretary industries Ashutosh Pednekar and officials of the HPCL-Mittal Energy Ltd.

Recently, the Gehlot government has started an exercise to attract investors in Rajasthan. Investors meet has held even during the previous governments. Industrialists or investors who could not invest in spite of making announcements, they are also being encouraged to invest by solving their problems. Many more big companies, industrialists, investors are taking interest in Rajasthan.

Gehlot drew Mittal's attention to the opportunities in mining sector:

Gehlot also drew Mittal's attention to the opportunities in the mining sector. The Chief Minister told him that under the Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme-2019, very competitive incentives given to the investors and the state will provide assistance for any venture they set up.

Lakshmi Mittal is an Indian-origin industrialist based in London. He was born in Sadulpur in Churu district of Rajasthan. Mittal, the owner of an industry conglomerate called LNM, is the 91st richest person in the world. Along with this, his foundation is also running a famous engineering college named LNM IIT in Jamdoli, Jaipur for quality higher engineering education. Mittal's net worth estimated at US$ 19.1 billion (according to Forbes 2021). The Indian government awarded him the Padma Vibhushan Award in the year 2008.
