Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of three semiconductor facilities worth about Rs 1.25 lakh crore. One of these manufacturing facilities will be established in Morigaon in Assam and two in Dholera and Sanand in Gujarat.

This will help India become a global hub for semiconductor manufacturing. PM Modi has laid the foundation of these semiconductor facilities in the program 'India's Teched: Chips for Developed India'. Leaders from Taiwan also participated virtually in this program.

PM Modi said that today is a historic day. Today, we are also writing history and taking strong steps towards a bright future. The 21st century is a technology-based century, which cannot be imagined without chips.

Last month, the Union Cabinet had approved the establishment of three semiconductor units. Manufacturing work of all three facilities will start within 100 days.

Prime Minister said – Made in India chip will make India self-reliant

'Made in India chip will take India towards self-reliance. Chip manufacturing is not just an industry, it opens the door to development, which is full of limitless possibilities. New employment opportunities are going to be created in India from this sector.

'Today the youth are seeing how India is working all-round for self-reliance and for its presence in the global supply chain. These efforts will increase their self-confidence and wherever a confident youth is, he changes the destiny of his country.

'On one hand, we are rapidly reducing poverty in the country and on the other hand, we are building modern infrastructure in India and also making the country self-reliant. Till now, in 2024 alone, the foundation stone of a scheme worth Rs 12 lakh crore has been inaugurated and laid.

Tata Group Chairman N Chandrasekaran said, 'The manufacturing of Made in India semiconductor chips is being completed with the vision of PM Modi. We felt its absence more during the time of Corona. This is the foundational industry for all digital products.

Tata Sons chairman said, 'We will create 50,000 jobs in this journey and this is just a beginning. Today our journey of making semiconductors has started. For the first time, India will have the capacity to solve the demand for chips in India.
