OLA Will Refund Rs 130 Crore To Customers, Kept The Price Of E-Scooter Low For Subsidy

Two-wheeler company Ola, which makes electric vehicles, has said that it will give a refund of about Rs 130 crore to its customers. The company will return the money of the charger i.e. 9 to 19 thousand rupees to the customer as a refund.

According to a whistleblower's complaint, 4 companies, including Ola Electric, are accused of keeping the prices of their scooters low to claim subsidy under FAME-II, but charging customers extra money in the name of chargers and software .

According to a CNBC report, the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MOHI) had launched an investigation into keeping the price of electric scooters high. In response to the probe, Ola has told the government that it is ready to refund the cost of the charger. Apart from Ola Electric, Hero MotoCorp, TVS Motor Company and Ather Energy are also under the scanner.

The company will return the payment taken in the name of the charger

MOHI has informed that, 'Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) will not take action on Ola Electric, as the company has announced in a letter to ARAI dated April 30, 2023 that it will refund the customer.

This refund will be given to those customers who purchased the off-board charger as an accessory while purchasing the Ola S1 Pro model scooter from the financial year 2019-20 to March 30, 2023.

Bhavish Agarwal, founder and CEO of Ola Electric, recently told CNBC that the company will do whatever the government asks it to do.

Ola Electric had previewed 5 electric bikes on 9th February. Apart from this, new versions of its sector were also launched. The Air was introduced in three versions ranging from Rs 84,999 to Rs 1,09,999, while the S1 is now available in two versions.
