Now Yamuna Express Highway has been taken over by CBI, FIR filed against former CEO

The CBI has taken over the investigation into the Yamuna Expressway Authority scam. The investigating agency has named the former CEO of the PC Gupta and 20 others in its FIR. CBI officials gave this information on Wednesday. On the recommendation of Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh, the agency has taken over the investigation of land purchase scam worth Rs 126 crore.

The Uttar Pradesh government had recommended a CBI inquiry into the matter in July, 2018. It is alleged that Gupta, CEO of Yamuna Express Industrial Development Authority, had purchased land for Rs 85.49 crore with the help of 19 companies in 7 villages of Mathura by forming alliances with officials and employees. After this, this land was sold to the Authority at a high price, due to which a loss of Rs 126 crore.

As an accused of this land purchase scam, the police has arrested a person named Ajit from Bulandshahr. Investigation has revealed that Ajit is a relative of the then OSD of the Authority. PC Gupta, the CEO of the authority in this case, is in jail. On December 15, the then ACEO Satish Kumar was arrested by the police. In this case, the government had taken a tough stance on easing the action.
