According to the data made public last in 2020-21, there were 8.22 crore taxpayers in the country's total population of 132 crore. Of these, 7.5 crore were in the net of zero tax. In such a situation, the central government has to collect income tax only on the basis of about 1.5 crore taxpayers. 60% of the population in America pays income tax. 5 states including UP-Bihar and MP have 48% stake in the country's income tax collection.

• Number of people paying tax above Rs 1 crore: 5,072

UP most earning; 18% comes from here

The states' share in the total tax collection by the Center is Rs 10.21 lakh crore. Come, in which UP 1.8 lakh crore rupees. That is, it is on the first with a share of 18%.
