Taiwanese multinational electronics contract manufacturer Foxconn has received an order to manufacture Apple AirPods. According to a Reuters report, due to this deal to make wireless earphones and airpods from Apple, Foxconn will invest $ 200 million, or about Rs 1,654 crore, in India. Foxconn will set up a factory in India to make wireless earphones and airpods.
Airpods for Apple have been made by many Chinese manufacturers till now. Now Foxconn will be the first company to produce AirPods outside China. However, no statement has been revealed on this news from Apple or Foxconn. Foxconn is the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer and the assembler of about 70% of all Apple iPhones. Foxconn has now also become the supplier of Apple's AirPods for the first time.
According to the report, Foxconn will build a plant to make Apple Airpods in Telangana, India, for which the company will invest more than $ 200 million. However, it is not yet known what is the size and value of the order placed by Apple to Foxconn to make AirPods. Apart from Foxconn, companies such as Wistron Corp and Pegatron Corp were also involved in the race to get the order to make AirPods.
It has been said in the report that Apple had requested Foxconn to set up a production plant in India. Foxconn's subsidiary 'Foxconn Interconnect Technology Limited' is planning to set up a manufacturing plant in Telangana in the second half of this year. At the same time, production in this new plant of Foxconn can start by the end of 2024.
