Reserve Bank of India Ordered Banks to Remain Open on 31st March 2019, Sunday

The Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday said that all bank branches of government transactions will be open on this Sunday (31st March). The Central Bank has issued instructions to the concerned banks in this regard. The last day of the current financial year is on 31st March and it has been ordered, that bank branches with government transactions have been kept open.

The Reserve Bank has issued a circular saying, "The Government of India has said that for all the public receipts and payments, all the Pay and Account Offices will remain open on March 31, 2019. In this regard, all agency banks are advised to keep all their branches of government business open on Sunday, March 31st 2019.

Central Bank has said that in this regard, authorized banks of all agency banks, which are conducting government transactions, will be kept open for public transactions on March 30, 2019, till 8 PM and 31 March 2019 to 6 PM. Circular states that all electronic transactions including RTGS and NEFT will also be open till 30 and 31 March 2019 for an extended period.

The fiscal year turns from 1 April. In such a situation, many financial works could remain incomplete due to Sunday on 31st March. Many people and businessmen also work on their last day, in which case they could have problems if the bank was closed.
