GST Return Filing Date Extended till 31st December

The government has extended the date for filing GST returns. The date for filing returns for FY 2017-18 has been extended to 31 December 2019 and for FY 2018-19 it is 31 March 2020. Apart from this, the whole process of filing GST returns has also been made easier. Many fields have now been optional in this form.

GSTR-9 for FY 2017-18, called Annual Return Form and GSTR-9C (Reconciliation Statement), can now be filled by 31 December. At the same time, the date for the financial year 2018-19 is till 31 March 2020. The last date for filling GSTR-9 and GSTR-9C for the first FY 2017-18 was 30 November and the last date for FY 2018-19 was 31 December.

CBIC issued a notification
The Central Board of Direct Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has issued a notification in this regard on Thursday. According to the notification, taxpayers are not required to submit separate input tax credits on inputs, input services and capital goods. Also, there is no need to provide HSN level information on output and input.
