Kanpur: Uncontrollable e-bus Collides with Several Vehicles, Kills Six People and Injures Nine Others

On Sunday midnight, the electric bus ran after losing control from Ghantaghar to Tat Mill intersection. A half-dozen vehicles were hit, and 15 people were trampled. Finally, the dumper arrived at the traffic light in the middle of the crossroads. The accident claimed the lives of six people. Nine people have been injured. Some of the injured are in critical condition.

At around 11.30 p.m., an electric bus was speeding towards Tat Mill from the Ghantaghar intersection. As soon as the bridge descended, the bus driver began running in the bus in the opposite direction, trampled the people coming on its way, and ran the bus over people present there.

Tat Mill collided with a dumper coming from Chakeri's side after hitting the traffic booth at the intersection. The accident claimed the lives of six people. Four of them could be identified. The police continued to have difficulty identifying the other dead.

President Ram Nath Kovind expressed his condolences via Twitter. In which he expressed his deep sadness over the news of many casualties in the Kanpur bus accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost loved ones in this incident. I wish those who have been injured a speedy recovery.

Damaged cars, bikes, and scooties

Shivam alias Shubham Sonkar (30), a resident of Latush Road, was riding in a scooty with his friend Sunil Sonkar (30) and Ramesh Yadav. They were also hit by the bus. In which Shivam and Sunil were killed. At the same time, Aslan (20), a Bekenganj resident riding a bike, was passing by. He, too, died. Ajit Kumar (60), a resident of Naubasta's Keshav Nagar, also died. The others were unable to be identified. The e-bus collided with a Swift car first, then two bikes, two scooties, a tempo, a Zen car, and finally a dumper. Six people were executed.

The bus driver has yet to be located at the scene of the accident. As soon as the accident occurred, the driver fled. The police are now contacting the appropriate department to know more about the bus driver. An FIR will be filed against him to take action. The footage from the CCTV cameras installed there is also being reviewed by the police which would explain how the accident occurred.

The deceased's bodies have been taken to the mortuary. The injured are in the hospital. The bus driver has escaped. The search for him is ongoing. The bus driver was found to be at fault in the initial investigation. The facts will become clear once the investigation is completed.
