American Airlines Emergency Landing: On Sunday i.e. April 23, an American Airlines flight experienced an engine fire while flying over Ohio, allegedly due to a collision with a bird.
Fortunately, the plane landed safely at John Glenn Columbus International Airport around 8 a.m. local time, and there were no reported injuries.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed this information in a statement to CBS News.
In a tweet, the airport authorities confirmed an aircraft incident at CMH on Sunday morning, which involved a reported engine fire.
However, they reassured the public that emergency crews had responded promptly, and the aircraft managed to land safely. Furthermore, the airport remained operational and open.
On Sunday, a commercial Boeing 737 jet departed from the airport at around 7:45 AM, heading to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. However, the flight was cut short when the plane hit a bird while flying over Upper Arlington.
The tracking site FlightAware reported that the aircraft returned to the airport about 30 minutes after takeoff. Currently, an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the incident.
According to CBS News, the airline reported that the affected flight landed without any issues and taxied safely to the gate using its own power.
However, the aircraft was subsequently taken out of service for maintenance purposes. The airline's team is working diligently to ensure that customers are able to continue their journey to PHX as soon as possible.
The airline emphasizes that safety remains their top priority, and they appreciate the understanding and cooperation of their customers in this situation.
