The Jasper County Sheriff's Office has released a statement stating that after receiving reports of gunshots fired at a private residence where a party was being held, deputies responded to the scene just after midnight.
Upon arrival, they discovered nine victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.
As per the statements made by officials in Jasper County, the injuries sustained by the victims are believed to be non-life-threatening.
As per the statement released by the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, approximately 250 individuals were present at the time of the shooting incident.
Eight of the victims were transported to Jasper Memorial Hospital in Texas by personal vehicles.
According to the spokesperson for the Jasper County Sheriff's Office, Karli Cherry, "at least one" of the victims was later transferred to Christus Southeast Texas-St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for additional medical attention. One of the victims, however, did not seek hospitalization, as per Cherry.
