Today, Bajaj Auto has made history by officially launching India's first CNG motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom. Alongside the launch event, Central Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari was present, who hailed it as a game-changer.
Priced at an initial tag of INR 95,000 (ex-showroom), this motorcycle boasts an attractive look and sporty design, marking a significant shift towards CNG-powered vehicles in the automotive industry.
Bajaj Auto has launched this bike in the commuter segment but has made significant strides in its design and appearance. At first glance, the most striking aspect is the CNG cylinder.
Upon seeing this bike, one might not immediately discern where the company has placed the CNG cylinder. Central Minister Nitin Gadkari also praised this aspect of the bike.
In terms of design, Bajaj has used the language of minimal yet strong design for the Freedom 125. It features fully LED headlights and taillights, along with halogen indicators.
It also includes a monochrome LCD display with an instrument cluster that supports Bluetooth connectivity. Bajaj has provided a common flap on the fuel tank, allowing refuelling for both petrol and CNG options when opened.
Bajaj Auto claims that the bike features the longest seat in its segment (785mm), which adequately covers the fuel tank at the front. The CNG tank is placed under this seat.
It displays green colour for CNG and orange for petrol. The bike is equipped with a robust trellis frame that makes it lightweight yet strong.
The company states that this bike has passed 11 different tests in the industry, ensuring complete safety. It has been tested for front, side, top impacts, and even being run over by a truck.
