Diesel vehicles have been an attractive option for Indian car buyers for decades, chosen for their torque, power, and fuel efficiency. However, with the implementation of stringent emission standards, bans on 10-year-old diesel cars, and better fuel efficiency of petrol motors, people's preferences are changing.

Car companies like Maruti Suzuki and Honda have already completely removed diesel engines from their product portfolio. Hyundai, Tata, and Mahindra are among the few companies that still produce cars running on diesel.

If you are considering buying a 7-seater diesel SUV, three new models will hit the market this year. Let's explore the key details of these upcoming 7-seater diesel SUVs.

1. Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

The Hyundai Alcazar facelift is set to go on sale by May or June 2024. Following the updated versions of the Creta and Creta N Line, this will be the company's third product launch this year.

Some design elements of the updated Alcazar will be borrowed from the new Creta. In the SUV, we can expect to see an updated grille, bumper, and DRLs along with updated headlamps.

Apart from new alloy wheels, the side profile will largely remain unchanged. It will feature a dashboard similar to the new Creta. The interior theme and seat upholstery could also be new.

Additionally, it can be equipped with Level 2 ADAS technology. However, there will be no changes in its engine setup, and it will continue to come with the 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel and 2.0L, 4-cylinder petrol engines.

2. MG Gloster Facelift

The MG Gloster facelift could be a good option for those looking for a 7-seater diesel SUV. It is expected to be launched in the second half of 2024.

Most of the cosmetic changes are anticipated to be made to the front end. It will feature a larger front grille along with connected LED DRLs and an updated front bumper with vertically stacked LED headlamps.

There's a possibility of some upgrades inside the cabin, including a new colour theme and upholstery.

The 2024 MG Gloster facelift will continue to be powered by a 2.0L diesel engine with RWD setup, and it will also offer an option with a 2.0L twin-turbo diesel engine with a 4WD layout.

The 2024 Toyota Fortuner will be based on the IMV platform, which supports various body styles and engines (including ICE and hybrid).

The new model of the SUV will be equipped with a 2.8L turbo diesel engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology.

Reports suggest that the new Fortuner will also be equipped with ADAS technology.
