Steve Smith Eligible for Captaincy again as Ban Ends

The two-year ban on the captaincy of Steve Smith also came to an end on Sunday. Now he is again eligible to command the Australian team. All cricket activities are closed due to Coronavirus right now. Smith was banned for one year and his captaincy for two years in the ball-tampering incident in Cape Town during the 2018 tour of South Africa. He made his comeback to international cricket last year. Now the ban on his captaincy was also lifted. He was convicted along with David Warner (one year) and Cameron Bancroft (9 months).

Australian cricketers were to participate in the IPL after the series was over in New Zealand. But things are not yet clear on this event and Australia's tour of England and Bangladesh has also been postponed. The IPL has also been postponed till 15 April. Smith was also removed from the captaincy last year by the Rajasthan Royals. Tim Paine has performed brilliantly as Test captain and Aaron Finch as a limited-overs captain.

Smith is trying to keep himself mentally and physically fit during the lockdown. For this, apart from doing gym at home, he is playing guitar. He said that it does not look like IPL is going to happen. If IPL happens then it is good and if it is not there will be many things in the world. Therefore, I am focusing my attention on sports.
