Rajasthan Election 2022: In a significant setback for the Congress party ahead of the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections, former Mayor of Jodhpur, Rameshwar Dadhich, a close aide to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Dadhich, who previously served as the Mayor of Jodhpur Municipal Corporation, has decided to switch allegiance to the BJP, marking a notable political development in the state.
Several prominent leaders, including Congress leader Vinod Sharma from Dausa, along with representatives from various political parties and social organizations, have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The membership was accepted in the presence of Central Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and BJP State President C.P. Joshi, among other leaders, on Thursday.
Rameshwar Dadhich, a Congress leader from Jodhpur, was among those who embraced BJP membership. Welcoming the new members, Minister Pralhad Joshi, Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and BJP State President C.P. Joshi draped them with scarves as a symbol of joining the party.
It's noteworthy that Dadhich, who aspired to contest elections on a Congress ticket from the Soorsagar assembly constituency, was denied a ticket by the Congress party.
Instead, the ticket for the Soorsagar constituency was granted to Shezad Khan.
Upset over not receiving the party ticket, Dadhich expressed his dissatisfaction by filing nomination papers as an independent candidate.
On Thursday, he announced his withdrawal from the electoral arena. Dadhich accused Chief Minister Gehlot of providing a ticket to a Muslim leader to balance his political equations.
