Rajasthan Elections: Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot submitted his nomination papers from Sardarpura, Jodhpur, on the last day for nominations on November 6.
Earlier that morning, CM Gehlot sought his sister's blessings before heading to the Returning Officer's office to file his nomination.
This marks the seventh time that three-time Chief Minister Gehlot has filed nominations for the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections.
In his affidavit to the Election Commission, Ashok Gehlot declared his total assets as 11 crore 68 lakh 98 thousand 758 INR.
Out of this, he himself owns assets worth 10 crore 27 lakh, while the remaining share belongs to his wife, Sunita Gehlot.
According to the affidavit, CM Gehlot has only 20,000 INR in cash, and his wife holds 10,000 INR in cash.
Remarkably, according to the 2018 Election Commission affidavit, Ashok Gehlot's total assets were 6 crore 53 lakh. This implies that in the past five years, the Chief Minister's total assets have nearly doubled.
Back in 2013, Ashok Gehlot's total assets were just 1 crore 69 lakh, while in 2008, he had assets worth 1 crore 7 lakh. This clearly demonstrates that Gehlot's wealth has expanded almost sevenfold from 2013 to 2023.
Notably, CM Gehlot declared that he does not own any vehicles. He possesses 30,000 INR worth of gold, while his wife owns jewellery worth 14 lakh 90 thousand.
Additionally, Ashok Gehlot mentioned two bank accounts in his affidavit. His Bank of India's Legislative Branch in Jaipur and Parliament Branch accounts hold approximately 1 crore 94 lakh 23 thousand 627 INR.
