Adi Shankaracharya's Spiritual Journey

It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya, born in Kerala, arrived in Omkareshwar after taking sannyasa (renunciation) during his childhood. It was here that he encountered his guru, Govind Bhagvatpad, and spent four years in this spiritual city, acquiring knowledge.

According to religious beliefs, Shankaracharya left Omkareshwar at the age of 12 to propagate the Advaita Vedanta philosophy to other parts of the country.
