In 1985, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his initial steps into politics. Lal Krishna Advani, a senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), is often regarded as his political mentor.

Recognizing Modi's hard work and clear vision, the party entrusted him with significant responsibilities. In the years 1988-89, he was appointed as the General Secretary of the Gujarat BJP.

After that, there was no looking back for him. His remarkable contributions to the party led to his appointment as the National Secretary of the BJP in 1995.
