Madhya Pradesh: In a recent heart-breaking incident from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh where a 12-year-old girl is seen moving from door-to-door seeking help from people, a rag barely covers her body.
People are seen to drive her away without providing any help. The girl was finally found near an ashram and was finally admitted to the hospital and due to her severe injuries, she was later taken to Indore.
The police have filed a complaint against an unknown accused under the POCSO (Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences) Act. Police are also trying to find out how the girl got there with the help of CCTV footage. Although she was unable to brief the police about her identity and location, she is expected to belong to UP as her accent suggests.
Ujjain Superintendent of Police Sachin Sharma said, “The medical examination has confirmed rape. We have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and are closely following this case. We appeal to the people to inform the police in case they find any information.”
Reacting to the incident on the social media platform X, Congress MP Randeep Surjewala wrote, "What happened in Ujjain has put the entire country to shame. When Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP leaders get time from celebrating, only then they can hear the cries of the daughters of the MP."
This incident has again brought to light the alarming situation of women's safety in the state. According to the recent report by NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau), Madhya Pradesh has reported the second-highest number of rapes in the country in the year 2021.
