Gujarat Accident News: In an awful occurrence on the ISKCON Bridge in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, a speeding Jaguar car fatally drove into a crowd, killing nine people, including a police constable.
Tathya Patel, the driver of the Jaguar, was arrested by Gujarat Police, and his father, Prajnesh Patel, was also arrested in connection with the event.
On a Thursday morning (July 20), a crowd had assembled at the scene of the accident on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar (SG) route. They had come to see the aftermath of an earlier collision between a Thar SUV and a dumper.
As they gathered near the scene, a terrifying incident occurred when the Jaguar crashed into the throng at an astounding speed of 160 kmph.
Altamash Qureshi, an injured survivor being treated at Sola Civil Hospital, described the terrifying occurrence. He and his buddies had gone to the bridge to see the earlier collision when the Jaguar arrived from behind them and struck them with great force.
Altamash stressed that the car was travelling at an "extremely" fast speed, making it difficult for them to react or avoid the collision.
Authorities responded quickly to the tragedy, and the father-son combo, Tathya Patel and Prajnesh Patel, were escorted to the accident site for further investigation.
The incident stunned the nation, and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel issued a financial aid package of Rs 4 lakh for the relatives of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for those injured in the horrific disaster.
As word of the occurrence spread, disturbing footage of the crash surfaced, emphasising the gravity of the situation. The collision has heightened worries about road safety, as well as the need to address overspeeding and dangerous driving on the roadways.
The loss of innocent lives has left the town in sadness, and investigations are underway to determine what caused such a tragic tragedy.
