Excise Policy Scam: The incarcerated Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Manish Sisodia, has suffered a major setback as the Delhi High Court dismissed his bail plea on Tuesday (May 30) in connection with the excise policy case.
Sisodia, the former deputy Chief Minister of the Arvind Kejriwal government, had appealed against the lower court's decision, which had previously rejected his bail application.
The Delhi High Court, in a case investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) concerning the Delhi Excise Policy, has denied granting bail to Manish Sisodia.
The court emphasized the gravity of the charges against Sisodia and expressed concerns about the potential influence on witnesses if bail was granted. Consequently, the High Court rejected Sisodia's bail plea.
In the Delhi liquor policy case, Manish Sisodia, the former deputy chief minister, was mentioned as an accused in the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
According to the supplementary chargesheet submitted by the investigative agency, it was stated that Manish Sisodia had confessed to destroying two mobile phones, which was deemed as "another incriminating circumstance" against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) also included Hyderabad-based CA Buchi Babu Gorantla, liquor trader Amandeep Singh Dhall, and Arjun Pandey in the supplementary chargesheet alongside Manish Sisodia.
Manish Sisodia, a senior AAP leader, was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26 in connection with alleged corruption related to the formulation and execution of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021-22. This arrest came after multiple rounds of questioning.
