The Ashes 2023: The 4th Test match of the Ashes 2023 series will be played at Old Trafford in Manchester. This red ball game will start from tomorrow, Wednesday, 19th July 2023 and it will end on 23rd July 2023, Sunday.
England and Australia have displayed a great match-up in all three departments which has been great to see.
All three matches so far have been thrilling to watch and we hope that the fourth Test also continues to entertain each one of us.
England has finally managed to win a Test match in the Ashes 2023 series. After losing the first two red ball games on the trot at Edgbaston and Lords, Stokesy and his men have won the 3rd Test match at Leeds.
But still, they trail 1-2 down in this red series and one more loss means they will lose the series at home.
The home side, England had included Mark Wood in their playing XI for the 3rd Test match which worked for them. Wood was brilliant with the ball when the Aussies batted in the 1st innings and he also displayed his skills with the bat as well.
In the 1st innings, Mark played a cameo of an innings. He scored 24 runs from just eight balls and in the second innings, he guided his team through the run chase of 251 runs.
Chris Woakes was also included in that Leeds Test match. Woakes also contributed well with the bat and ball.
However, England needs runs from Joe Root, whose bat has gone silent after he scored a magnificent century in the 1st Test match at Edgbaston.
England’s middle-order batter needs to step up as the remaining matches will be a do-or-die for them.
Their bowlers have done a decent job till now in this series. Wood, Woakes, Board, and Robinson have been good for them. In the 4th Test, they will have to come good once again.
Moen Ali will be the key bowler in this lineup because the experts say that the pitch in Manchester will offer some turn.
Australia, on the other hand, will not be so upset with that close loss because they can still seal the series in their favour in the remainder of the matches.
The Aussies need just one win to script a history in England. Cummins has been good for them and they will hope that he continues to shine with the ball like he has done it in this series so far.
But the issue is with David Warner. He hasn’t looked in great nick after he scored a double ton in his 100th Test match which was played against South Africa in early January 2023.
Warner had a poor outing in the Test series against India, TATA IPL 2023, WTC 2023 Final and the three red ball matches played so far.
Australia can rest Warner and include Marcus Harris. They also need to think about the fitness of Mitchell Starc, who has been the part of all three tests so far.
The visitors can replace Starc with Cameron Green, who missed the 3rd Test match due to injury. They can also think of adding Josh Hazlewood as well.
England – Ben Duckett, Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes(c), Jonny Bairstow(wk), Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Stuart Broad, Ollie Robinson and Mark Wood.
Australia - David Warner/Marcus Harris, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Cameron Green, Alex Carey(wk), Pat Cummins(c), Mitchell Starc/Scott Boland, Todd Murphy, and Josh Hazlewood.
The 4th Test match of this classic Test series will be played in Manchester. The experts reckon that the pitch will help the spinners and so Moen Ali and Todd Murphy will have a role to play in this Test match.
Batters – Travis Head, Joe Root and Zak Crawley
Bowlers – Pat Cummins, Mark Wood and Todd Murphy
All-rounders – Moen Ali and Cameron Green
Wicket-keeper – Alex Carey
Vice-captain – Stuart Board
Captain – Marnus Labuschange
