Deepak also missed the home series against South Africa of the fifty overs format and he could have been a perfect replacement for Jasprit Bumrah for the T20 WC which starts on 16th October 2022

Chahar bowled well in the one-day international series against Zimbabwe and he was also selected as the reserved player for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.

He was also the most economical bowler in the three match T20I series against South Africa which India won by a margin of 2-1. This series win was India’s first home series win of the shortest format against the Proteas.

T20 World Cup 2022: Shardul Thakur will replace Deepak Chahar

The absence of Deepak Chahar is a huge blow for the India Cricket Team because Chahar was bowling well and he looked in good form and control.

According to the reports, Shardul Thakur has been named as the replacement for Chahar as the reserved player.

The three fast bowlers, Shami, Shardul and Siraj will leave for Australia on Thursday, 13th October 2022. 

The main squad of the men in blue side have reached Australia and they are practising in Perth.  The Indian team will also play two warm-up matches against New Zealand and Australia.

The first match of the men in blue side will be played in Melbourne Cricket Ground against the arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, 23rd October 2022
