India and Afghanistan have not played more games in any of the formats at the international cricket level. These two teams have met in three one-day international games so far from 2014 to 2019 and India has won two matches while one game was tied in the 2018 Asia Cup edition which India won in the United Arab Emirates.
After the tied game between India and Afghanistan in 2018, their clash in the last edition of the ODI World Cup in 2019 was also a highly competitive one. India won that lone match in the World Cup history against the Afghans by a margin of 11 runs.
In tomorrow’s game, the fans also want to witness a repeat of the 2018 and 2019 matches instead of a one-sided affair.
The 9th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 will be played at Arun Jaitley Stadium in the national capital city of Delhi tomorrow. The pitch at this venue is said to be good for the batters and on this ground, the South African batters piled up 428 runs in their allotted 50 overs and Sri Lanka also batted quite nicely to challenge that mammoth and record total.
The spinners will get some purchase from that wicket and both the teams, India and Afghanistan have good quality of spin bowlers in that ODI World Cup 2023 squad.
India will go with three spinners, Jaddu, Ashwin and Kuldeep while the Afghans have Rashid, Nabi and Mujeeb in their playing eleven.
The batters from both teams will have to tackle the spin bowlers well and the team who plays the spin perfectly will end up winning this contest comfortably.
India: Shubman Gill will be still out of the playing XI in this match as well and Ishan Kishan will continue to open the innings with skipper HITMAN. India will play the same side which played against the Aussies in Chennai on Sunday.
Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj.
Afghanistan: The Afghans will look to bounceback in this game and that too against a formidable side like Team India. Their batting will be a big key to their success in this contest and their low batsmanship was the reason why they lost against Bangladesh in their opening match of this ODI World Cup 2023.
