Mumbai Indians Vs Sunrisers Hyderabad: The TATA IPL 2023 is in its last weekend as tomorrow the league matches will get over and from Tuesday, 23rd May 2023, the playoff matches will start.
As of now, Gujarat Titans, the defending champions are the only side to qualify for the playoff berth. GT is in the first position and it will remain there.
While the other teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kolkata Knight Riders, Lucknow Super Giants and Rajasthan Royals are still in the race to fill the last three spots.
The other sides like Delhi Capitals, Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad and will complete their formalities of playing their last league matches of this 16th edition.
The Orange army will take on the Blues. The journey for the Hyderabad team is over in this edition and they should look to end their TATA IPL 2023 campaign with a win against the five-time champion side, Mumbai Indians. The SRH side has nothing to lose. But still, they can spoil the party of the MI side.
However, the sun didn’t rise for the Hyderabad side in this season. Apart from Harry Brook and Heinrich Klaasen tons, nothing has worked for them in the batting department.
Rahul Tripathi and Aiden Markram played well. Still, their batting wasn’t that great. Their bowling was over-reliant on Bhuvneshwar Kumar.
He picked up his second five-wicket haul in his IPL career. But the other bowlers leaked runs.
In this game, the Orange army needs to get off to a good start and also maximise the powerplay overs. Harry Brook should open the innings with Rahul Tripathi.
Rahul too has been in decent form. While Abhisheikh Sharma, Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen should follow them.
SRH should find a way to include Marco Jansen, who is a quality player and his inclusion will add depth in their bowling.
Harry Brook, Rahul Tripathi, Abhishek Sharma, Adien Markram(c), Henrich Klaasen(wk), Marco Jansen, Abdul Samad, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kartik Tyagi, Mayank Dagar, Nitish Reddy.
The five-time champions side needs to win this game by a heavy margin to qualify. Mumbai Indians will be under pressure when they face a team who has nothing to lose.
In their last game against LSG, MI had the game in their grasp. The bowlers did well and the batters too were in front of their opposite team in a run chase of 164 runs.
But they lost wickets at crucial junctures and because of that MI never made a comeback. The side who had chased down 200 and more runs three times this season failed to muster 164 runs and that too despite getting a good start.
Rohit and Ishan looked good in that game. But the middle order couldn’t capitalize on that.
Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green and Nehal Wadhera need to bat with responsibility. While the finishing kick should be given by Tim David because he is the only well-known finisher in that whole squad.
Their bowling was good in the last game and they would ideally stick to that combination. The inclusion of Jordan is a good option and his experience will come in handy in this game.
Rohit Sharma(c), Ishan Kishan(wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Chris Jordan, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Akash Madwal and Jason Behrendroff.
