Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Rajat Patidar/Sanju Samson, Shreyas Iyer, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Siraj, Avesh Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, and Ravi Bishnoi.
After the win in the shortest format series, India will take on South Africa in the three-match fifty-over series, starting tomorrow i.e. Oct 06 in Lucknow.
This series is an ideal opportunity for the youngsters like Samson, Kishan, and Gill, who have been impressive in the domestic cricket arena and IPL. Recently Samson also led the India A team to victory against New Zealand A. India can play Sanju as a pure batter and let Kishan be behind the stumps.
Dhawan has done well as the captain of the ODI side. He has earlier won the fifty overs series in Sri Lanka and West Indies. Now it's the time for him to show his captaincy skills at home.
India had lost the fifty overs when they played in South Africa earlier this year under the leadership of KL Rahul. The Proteas whitewashed India in that series.
This series is another opportunity for Kuldeep Yadav to regain his lost form. Ravi Bishnoi, too, didn't do a good job in the Asia Cup 2022. So here is another chance for him to showcase his talent and worth.
Quinton de Kock, Janneman Malan, Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma, Andile Phehlukwayo, David Miller, Dwaine Pretorious, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi.
The visitors won the last match of the three-match T20I series, which would boost their confidence for the three-match ODI series against India.
The batting was excellent from South Africa, and with De Kock back in form, this unit looks more threatening in this series. South Africa has beaten India in the fifty overs earlier. They can take confidence from that series.
David Miller, too, showed his class in the second game, and he can carry that form in the ODIs as well. But the batting form of Temba Bavuma will worry the Proteas.
The skipper has fired at all after he came back from injury. This series will be ideal for preparing him for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
Nortje was rested for the last T20I match. He will be back for the ODI series. Even though the bowling was good from South Africa in the last match, they were taken for plenty, especially in the second T20I match.
Nortje, Rabada, and Ngidi will have to give an improved performance. The Proteas can use the bowling services of Aiden Markram. He wasn't used at all in the T20Is.
Keshav Maharaj will walk into the side because he is the only star spinner in their squad. Maharaj did well in the T20I series, and he will be one of the spin bowlers doing well in the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. South Africa will go with Maharaj as their lead spinner for that ICC mega event down under.
The pitch in Lucknow is more suited for the batters. But the pace bowlers will have some extra bounce, and the spinner will also fancy their chances on this wicket.
The weather is not good for the first ODI because there are high chances of rain in Lucknow.
