IND Vs NZ: India and New Zealand are the only two teams who have won all the matches so far in the ODI World Cup 2023. New Zealand have beaten England, Netherlands, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan.
India has also won their clashes against Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.
Both teams, India and New Zealand have won four in four games and they are tied on eight points each. New Zealand is on the first position and the men in blue side are on the second spot on the points table of the ODI World Cup 2023.
The only difference between these two teams is the net run rate (NRR). The Kiwis have net run rate of +1.923 which is better than Rohit Sharma’s men. India has an NRR of +1.659.
Now these two sides, India and New Zealand will meet on Sunday, 22nd October 2023 for their clash in a league match in this edition of ODI World Cup 2023 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamshala.
The match will start at 2 PM Indian Standard Time. Star Sports and Star Gold 1 will telecast this encounter while Disney+ Hotstar mobile application will have the live streaming service.
The New Zealand Cricket Team do not have a great record in India and when the men in the blue side tour the Kiwi nation, their record is also not that great in all three forms of this gentlemen’s game.
But when India and New Zealand meet in the ICC events like the World Cup of One-Day International and T20 Internationals, ICC Champions Trophy and World Test Championship events, India has won just three matches against the team of Blackcaps.
Those three wins came in one day international format. In the 1987 world cup match in Bengaluru, India won by 16 runs.
In the same ODI World Cup edition of 1987, India also won against the Kiwis at Nagpur by nine wickets and the last win for India in the ICC events came in the 2003 ODI World Cup where India beat New Zealand by seven wickets.
The Blackcaps side is yet to win an ODI World Cup tournament. They were the finalist in two back-to-back editions of this fifty-overs tournament.
In 2015, New Zealand lost to the host of that edition, Australia in the final and in 2019; The Kiwis lost the final at Lords against England, who were the hosts of that event four years back.
India has won two ODI World Cup tournaments in 1983 and 2011 under two different skippers, Kapil Dev and Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
They have also won the T20 World Cup 2007 edition in South Africa and 2013 ICC Champions Trophy in England. But since last 10 years, India hasn’t won any ICC event. They lost two WTC finals in a row in 2021 and 2023.
