IND Vs AUS Warm-Up Match: India batted first and scored 186 runs

The hosts of this ICC mega event, Australia, won the toss and opted to bowl first in this warm-up match. KL Rahul gave India the blazing start while skipper Rohit Sharma was enjoying the onslaught from the Karnataka opener from the other end.

Due to Rahul’s amazing stroke play, Team India had a great opening start of 78 runs and KL was the main contributor.

KL Rahul smashed 57 runs from just 33 balls with six boundaries and three sixes. But after the wicket of this opening batsman, India couldn’t reach a score beyond the two-hundred run mark because Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya didn’t seize this opportunity and they were dismissed quite early.

It was Suryakumar Yadav again who showed his extraordinary form in this warm-up game and scored yet another half-century in T20 cricket.

Team India’s fans hope that SKY continues to impress and keeps his good form going in the super 12-round matches. SKY scored brilliant fifty runs which allowed India to each the 180-run mark.

Dinesh Karthik was the third top scorer for team India in this warm-up game. Despite that, India couldn’t finish the game on high.

When KL was batting at the start, 200 runs looked certain. But the Aussies bowlers did a good job in keeping the men in blue to just 186 runs in their allotted twenty overs.

Starc picked up three wickets, Richardson got two wickets, while Cummins and Stoinis got one scalp each.

Aaron Finch led the way for Australia in this run chase

Australia had rested David Warner and Mitchell Marsh was promoted as the opener in this match. But the new opening pair could add only 41 runs from 5.4 overs. Marsh scored 35 runs from 18 balls.

Aaron Finch played extremely well and his 76-run knock kept Australia in the game. But unfortunately, Glenn Maxwell and the other middle-order batters didn’t support their skipper in this run chase of 187 runs.

Maxi was out for 23 runs and after the wicket of Finch, the Indian bowlers ripped the lower order of Australia with possession of wickets.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar and his fellow bowlers did well to restrict the Aussies for just 180 runs. Bhuvi picked up two wickets, Mohammed Shami was back with a bang as he claimed three important wickets while Arshdeep Singh and Harshal Patel got one wicket each to their names. India won the first warm-up match by six runs.

India will play their last warm-up game against New Zealand before they take on the arch-rivals Pakistan on Sunday, 23rd October 2022 at Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The second and last warm-up game will be played at 'The Gabba' in Brisbane on Wednesday, 19th October 2022.
