T20I Tons By Rohit Sharma: Rohit Sharma has been a stellar name in international cricket arena. He makes the batting look very easy even on a difficult pitches and conditions.
India’s HITMAN is the one who has also scored 3 double hundreds in the format like one day international (ODI) and he is the only player from India and the whole world to amass this magnificent record in the cricketing history.
Sharma ji's excellent record in the white ball format makes him legend of the ODIs and T20Is.
But having said that his record in the red ball format is also good and India will need to fire in the upcoming series of Test matches against England starting Thursday, 25th January 2024 at Shri Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad's Uppal.
Rohit Sharma’s presence will also be important in the T20 World Cup 2024 which will be played in United States of America and West Indies.
India will play against Pakistan on 9th June 2024 in New York during in that ICC mega event of the T20I format.
HITMAN was the one who led the Men in Blue till the semi-finals of the last World Cup played in the shortest format in 2022 in Australia and India also reached the finals of the ODI World Cup 2023 at home under Sharma’s leadership.
In the third T20I between IND Vs AFG which was played in Bengaluru, Rohit achieved the two humongous milestones in the T20 International format.
The Indian skipper scored a match-winning unbeaten 121 runs when the chips were down for the home side. India batted first for the first time in that series after they won the toss and opted to bat first.
But the top order failed to fire in that game as the Afghan bowlers started the innings well with the white cherry in hand. India was placed 22 for 4 and that’s when HITMAN and Rinku took India to a gigantic total of 212 runs in their 20 overs.
Rohit Sharma scored his 5th T20 International Century in that match and he is the only batter to have that many tons in the shortest format. Sharma scored an unbeaten 121 runs on a two-paced surface which made the life difficult for the batters who batted first on that kind of wicket.
India won that match due to the super over and Rohit also equalled the most wins in T20Is alongside MS Dhoni, who also has 42 wins in the shortest format.
HITMAN is the second Indian batter to score a ton in the shortest format. He is also the only Indian in world cricket to smash five centuries in the shortest format.
As we all know, Rohit Sharma’s career has been changed since he started to open the innings for India in all three forms of this gentlemen’s game and this credit goes to the former Indian legendary captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni for allowing Rohit Sharma to bat as an opener.
Rohit scored his first-ever hundred in the shortest format against South Africa in Dharamshala in 2015. Sharma Ji scored 106 runs which went in vain as South Africa stunned India in that encounter.
Later, Rohit scored his second ton against Sri Lanka where he smashed 118 runs from just 48 balls in 2017. His 3rd century came versus the Windies. He scored 111 runs in 2018 and his fourth ton in the shortest format came against England in that same year of 2018 in Bristol. In that game, HITMAN scored 100 runs from just 56 deliveries.
Sharma Ji’s fifth and last century in the shortest format came against The Afghans in 2024 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. HITMAN also registered his highest individual score in the shortest format with a score of unbeaten 121 runs in the third and the final match of that three-match series, which India won by a margin of three nil.
Apart from his 1st century in the T20I format, which came in a losing cause against the Proteas, none of the other four tons of Rohit in the shortest format came when India had lost a T20I match.
This shows that Rohit Sharma is a real match-winner whenever he plays for his country in all three forms of this game.
