While, the home side, England wants to keep the Ashes 2023 series alive by winning this red-ball encounter. Stokes and are already 0-2 down in the five-match red ball series.

When a player plays hundred Test matches for the country, it is because of their hard work, consistency, fitness, and good mental health. Without these things, playing even ten matches is not possible.

A player does a lot of things correctly and gets to that landmark with pure dedication to making the country proud. There are players who have scored a ton in their 100th red ball game as well.

While there are many great batters like Steve Smith who fail to achieve this spectacular feat in their Test careers. Smith failed to score big in both innings of his 100th Test match.

However, there are players who have smashed even a double ton when they have represented their country for the 100th time in the red ball format.

There are just two players who have achieved this feat till now and they are playing The Ashes 2023 series currently.

The former skipper of England was the first player to score a double ton in his 100th Test match. He achieved this feat last year when England toured India.

Root was also the captain of the side when he achieved this spectacular feat in the red ball format. Joe Root scored 218 runs in the 1st innings and he was also the top scorer in the second innings with 40 runs which allowed England to win that Test match by 227 runs in Chennai.

2. David Warner

The Aussie opener has scored a century for Australia in his 100th Test match. That was Warner’s 25th Test Ton of his career. David Warner is still the tenth batter to achieve this feat in the red ball format.

He did this against South Africa in early January 2023. And as the innings progressed, David Warner went on to hit a double century in the hundredth Test match of his wonderful career.

David is just the second player after Joe Root to get to this landmark. He had scored 200 runs in the 1st innings and Australia won that game by an innings and 182 runs.

But in the current series, Warner hasn’t been in good nick like the above-mentioned Joe Root and that’s why the Aussies have struggled to start the innings on a good note in the ongoing series.
